UCS 3542 Intermediate Mandarin 2

Course Description

This course is designed for students who have completed intermediate Mandarin 1 or equivalent. Students will be introduced to Mandarin sentences intonations, radicals of Chinese characters, writing of Chinese characters, vocabularies and grammars (additional 75 new words) . By the end of this course, students will be able to express opinions, express causes and effects, make comparisons, offer advice and talk about the experiences, etc.in Mandarin.

Course Outcome

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:

  • Identify the intonations of sentences in Mandarin
  • Oral abilities to complete the communication tasks by using the structures, sentence patterns learned in this course.
  • Read and write Chinese characters and simple sentences without the use of Hanyu Pinyin.
